Some will fetch the leash when they want you take them for a walk. They will lower their head and avert your stare when they did something wrong. Dogs will sit by you and share your sorrow when you are down. They express their feelings with simple gestures such as rubbing their head against yours. Dogs also love to lick each other and if they like you, they tell you by licking your face. My wife’s Chihuahua will show his affection by humping your legs. A very direct language.
What I observed is “monkey see, monkey do” between dogs. Put a trained dog with an untrained dog and the untrained dog will follow the trained dog. That save you a lot of time training new dogs. One universal dogs language I observed is loyalty and they want your affection and have no shame begging for it. I keep asking until I hit upon the yeah. It sure makes things easy. She doesn’t like to be picked up, so that always elicits a nooo. I didn’t consciously train her to say yeah and no. She clearly understands what they mean and uses them to make her wants known.
