My friend was 34 weeks pregnant and headed into her job in downtown Manhattan. It was rush-hour so all the seats were taken. She didn’t have a seat and was was standing next to an older gentleman. This older gentleman spoke up to a younger man who remained seated. The older gentleman spoke up to the one seated imploring “this woman is heavily pregnant would you mind giving up your seat for her?” The younger guy look my pregnant friend up and down and then replied to the older gentleman with a shrug….and a comment “Why should I? I didn’t [email protected] her”.
Yes, and I finally contacted him. He was my first everything! He liked to drink and sometimes would take off for days at a time. I left him for good on one of those binges. 36 yrs later, I finally got up the nerve to contact him thru one of his family members. He said it was ok to give me his phone number. I was kinda scared, so rather than call, I texted Hi! He said hey! what’s up buttercup? I asked if I could call him, as I didn’t know his current status. He said sure. So I called and it was like old times..only better. He’s been sober for 10 yrs now.
